Oak Hill is one of those parts of Austin that people often discover by accident — and once they do, they tend to fall in love with it.
Located in Southwest Austin just west of the “Y” intersection of Highway 290 and Highway 71, Oak Hill sits right where Austin starts transitioning into the Texas Hill Country. That means you get something that’s becoming harder to find close to the city: space, trees, hills, and a quieter pace while still being about 15–20 minutes from downtown.
Over the years I’ve helped several buyers explore this area, especially families who want more land or a little breathing room without moving too far outside the city.
One of the things I always explain to buyers is that Oak Hill isn’t just one neighborhood — it’s a collection of communities, each with its own character.
One of the most recognizable neighborhoods in Oak Hill is Covered Bridge.
This is a master-planned community that appeals to buyers who want neighborhood amenities while still enjoying the natural beauty of Southwest Austin. The homes here were mostly built in the early 2000s and tend to feature larger floorplans and family-friendly layouts.

Legend Oaks is another well-established Oak Hill community that many buyers overlook at first but end up loving once they see it in person.
This neighborhood features mature trees, wider streets, and homes built primarily in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
What many buyers appreciate about Legend Oaks is that it offers a quieter, residential feel while still being very close to downtown commuting routes.
Granada Hills is one of the more unique pockets of Oak Hill.
Here you’ll find homes on larger lots, some with acreage, and a much more private setting than typical suburban neighborhoods.
Buyers who want space, privacy, and hill country views often gravitate toward this area once they see what’s available.
I recently showed homes here to a buyer who originally thought they wanted to be in a master-planned community. After touring Granada Hills and seeing the lot sizes and surrounding nature, they realized the lifestyle felt much closer to what they had imagined.

can make a big difference when choosing the right home.
