Look north and northeast.

Samsung is making an enormous semiconductor investment in Taylor, while Firefly Aerospace has expanded its headquarters and spacecraft operations in Cedar Park.

Samsung reported that its Austin and Taylor campuses generated approximately $10.9 billion in Central Texas economic impact during 2025.

Meanwhile, Firefly’s expanded Cedar Park campus totals approximately 144,000 square feet and supports engineering, spacecraft assembly, testing, mission control and production.

Why does that matter to real estate?

Because where people work influences where they want to live.

If your job is Downtown, Georgetown may feel far north.

If you work in Cedar Park, Taylor or another northern employment center, suddenly Georgetown, Round Rock, Leander or Hutto can look very different.

And major employers tend to create ecosystems around them—suppliers, services, restaurants, retail and housing.

For decades, Austin’s growth story was largely about people moving outward while commuting inward.

Now some of the jobs are moving outward too.

That may be one of the biggest changes shaping the Austin metro over the next decade.
